Our Process

Initial Consultation

It all begins with listening… understanding your needs, desires and overall vision. We meet you at your home at a time that is convenient for you. Together, we walk the space, discuss your ideas, the way you use the space and what your design preferences are. By the end of the meeting, you will have some potential solutions and design ideas and a ballpark cost estimate.

Design Phase

Everything we build is designed to meet your needs- from lifestyle and space requirements to budget and timeframe. After the initial consultation, we prepare several design options for your review and walk you through the pros and cons of each concept. As the design is being refined and plans are being drafted, we work hard to make sure your project is designed with style, function and value in mind. Our experienced construction professionals and interior designers serve as advisors to you during this phase of the project to make sure the final plan will meet your every expectation.

In order to make sure the project is designed to fit your needs, we dedicate significant time to this phase of the process. If custom plans are required, we ask for a deposit of earnest money of up to $1,000 (depending on project size), which will be applied to the project cost when you hire Hill Bros. for the project.

Project Proposal

Once we have a design that meets your lifestyle and budget, we will prepare a detailed cost estimate and project proposal for you that will outline the complete scope of work, plans, allowances, and payment schedule. If project financing is needed, we have established relationships with several local banks that we can refer you to.

Your Project Team

Your project manager will be your point of contact throughout your entire project, from the initial meeting all the way to the closeout. As our previous clients regularly point out, having a single point of contact for any questions and concerns makes the remodeling experience much smoother. As part of our design- build services, a professional Interior Designer who is Registered with the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners (TBAE) will work with you to select the materials, colors and fixtures for your project. Having a professional to guide you through this process makes it simple to achieve a polished look that reflects your personal style. Many of the crews and trades that will be working on your home have been working with the Hill family for many years. Whether they are a subcontractor or a Hill Bros. employee, we hold everyone on our projects to a very high standard of quality, professionalism and safety.


We do not carry standard appliances, flooring, cabinets or fixtures. This allows us to work with you to select the perfect elements for your project from a variety of sources. Due to our arrangements with vendors, we are also able to pass along builder discounts on a wide variety of materials such as flooring, tile, and countertops.

Draw Schedule

Consistent with industry standard, we collect 30% of the total project cost upon signing a contract to begin work, 30% midway through, 30% at completion of major construction and 10% once you are completely satisfied with the final product.


The quality of our work is checked throughout the project to ensure the end product is of the highest standards. Furthermore, all of Hill Bros. work is covered by a 1-year “wall-to-wall”, 2-year plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and 10-year structural warranty.
